Hawk and Ivy Wedding

I was so thrilled when I received a call from Jean and Joe asking me to capture their  2013 Summer wedding at one of my favorite Asheville venues, Hawk and Ivy. From the first time we spoke, I knew their wedding was going to be something amazing and as you will see from the photos, they did not disappoint.

Jean and Joe both love the outdoors and the mountains (Joe proposed on a hike), so it was no surprise they chose the  Hawk and Ivy to celebrate tying the not. Located amongst the Blue Ridge Mountains, the venue boasts a rustic barn with an amazing mountain view ceremony location.  To make it even more special, the owner did all the floral from the flowers she grows on her property.

It was a beautiful day and even the looming rain clouds added to the majesty of the event. Jean and Joe decided to see each other before the ceremony so they could capture their first look privately and as you can tell from the photos, the moment was intimate and full of joy.  Their ceremony took place in an open field, officiated by the owner of Hawk and Ivy, where they were surrounded by their closest friends and family.

The celebrated the night away with dancing, toasts and some amazing cake from the talented Karen Donatelli. There many tears, lots of laughs and a tremendous amount of love. From start to finish, it was an amazing night to photograph and a true honor to be a part of. Last week I received a call from Jean and Joe who were coming to town pick up their wedding album. Seeing Jean’s contagious smile reminded again me of how much I loved working with them, so I just had to share this wedding. I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed taking them!
