Trash the Dress Photography

February 9, 2011 – 4 comments

We were reminiscing about Liz’s trash the dress photo shoot and how to convince more of you brides to do this. Hey, you can even involve your hubby! Keep in mind, trash the dress doesn’t necessarily mean “destroy” it. There are many themes or locations that will preserve your dress following the shoot. If your reservations for trashing your dress are because your daughter will wear it in 20-30 years… well… our guess is she’ll want a new one. While we never pressure brides into these shoots, we always let them know how enjoyable they are and how neat the photos will be years down the road.

What kind of trash the dress session would you do? Ocean? Under a waterfall? Horse Riding? We wanna hear your creative ideas!

Enjoy some of these images from Jacksonville Beach, FL. We did this shoot the day after Liz and John’s wedding. Crazy to think this was over 2 years ago!

Asheville Engagement Photography – Holly & Chad

January 11, 2011 – 5 comments

It has been snowing in Asheville, NC and we got lucky enough to do some winter wonderland engagement photography with Holly and Chad. This charming couple traveled from Ohio to get some destination wedding planning done and do an engagement shoot with us at Biltmore Estate. From start to finish their endearing personalities inspired us and made our jobs easy. It was hard not to take a good photo of them and we loved how they were willing to be silly in front of the camera. As we walked to different shooting locations we chatted about their upcoming wedding at Cliffs at Glassy, how they met (cute story we are saving for their wedding blog post), and even puppies (Holly wants one). On these “e-sessions”, getting to know the couple before the wedding is just as valuable as the photography part.

Enjoy these photos! You’ll be seeing more of Holly and Chad this April.

The wind was brutal in this spot so they got down to escape it while we set up the shot. We had them stand up quickly for a few shots, but thought this candid moment was cuter.

Biltmore Estate Proposal – Holly & John

December 31, 2010 – 6 comments

It’s fitting that our last photo shoot of the year was a proposal at the Biltmore Estate. 2010 was a great year full of amazing weddings, so why not end it with a sign of things to come?

Two days ago John proposed to Holly overlooking the Biltmore Estate house in Asheville. He arranged for Holly to arrive in a limo and he would greet her with flowers. Before she arrived John told us everything had gone perfectly as planned. In addition to the ring and flowers, he even had a small package of tissues in his pocket in the event of tears ensuing. For all you guys planning on popping the question, you might want to do the same!

Holly pulled up in the limo right on time and they had a private moment walking up the steps to the overlook of the house. Once at the top he got down on his knee and… well, we think the photos tell the rest of story! The proposal didn’t go unnoticed by visitors of the Estate that evening. After she said “yes” a group of 15-20 people all clapped and cheered for the engaged couple.

We were honored to photograph this special moment and extend our congratulations to Holly & John and all the other couples out there who are recently engaged!
